Update #1 of 20-21 MATE Competition

Last year was a heck of a year. In the last update post we had, it was about a week or two before spring break, which at the end of we started lockdown due to COVID-19. Honestly, we did not do much after that other than test castellious a few more times. At the start of this year, in fall, however we decided to create a new bot. Using new parts and old. Called, the Zavaleta, named after our prior Coach Dan Zavaleta who retired at the beginning of most of our junior year. Due to the fact that we would not be able to compete in NURC, since it has been canceled this year and held back until 2022, we decided it would be in our best interest to compete at the nearest MATE competition. MATE is similar to NURC in the way of that they are both underwater robotics competitions. However, the nearest MATE competition is in Socal, so we will be competing virtually instead of traveling during a pandemic. Our plan for next year is to pass on the team to freshman and sophmores who we have been working with on the bot and for them to compete at NURC. I honestly do not have much to update other than pictures as well as some time lapses of us working on the Zavaleta.

For more detailed questions about the bot, email us at DVHSUnderwaterRobotics@gmail.com

Here are some pictures and time lapses of the Zavaleta:
